What: The Black Hill Reserve Circuit Track is an easy 3.9 km walk around the reserve with beautiful views of the surrounding bushland and properties. We saw plenty of kangaroos with many excited children in tow so there is a potential to see much more wildlife if you tread carefully. (The Ridge Walk is found at the same location but is more challenging).

Where: Black Hill Reserve is on the outskirts of Kyneton and does head down a dirt road. The easiest way to get there is to type 110 Black Hill School Road into your GPS which will take you directly to the carpark. (Searching for Black Hill Reserve may direct you to a reserve with the same name in Ballarat!).
The best bit: This is a wonderful, easy family walk. The kids loved walking with the map and seeing how far we had gone from the landmarks they could see.
Picnic or cafe: There are no cafes close by so I suggest you pack a picnic or head to Kyneton before or after your walk. There is a picnic table about halfway around the track.
Toilets: There are no toilets at the reserve so make sure everyone goes before jump in the car.
Make a day of it: Visit the Kyneton Community Park, or any of the lovely local kid friendly cafes, like Ruby Cafe or Social Foundry. If you head there on the second Saturday of the month, you could drop into Kyneton for the Kyneton Farmers’ Market.
