What: This is a gem of a playground in the little town of Taradale just up the road from Malmsbury. It was a fair drive from our place but the kids all agreed it was worth the wait. There is a wide variety of equipment which accommodates children of every age: climbing frames and walls; a flying fox; slides; and various types of swings.

Where: The park is located on Jackson Street in Taradale.

The best bit: My youngest loved the pod swing and the boys enjoyed the climbing walls the best.

Picnic or cafe: The park has an undercover barbecue area with ample seating if you have an occasion to celebrate. There is also plenty of lush grass to sit on in the shade as well as benches and tables. It is perfect for a picnic but there is a cafe next door, Taradale Wine and Produce, which is open from Thursdays to Sundays.

Toilets: There is toilet block in the park grounds. They are clean but there is no change table.

Make a day of it: You may want to make a pit stop at the Malmsbury Botanic Gardens on your way to the park or continue on to visit The Cascades in Metcalf.
